Spiritual Awakening Exhaustion

I think of the men not participating in the workforce video or the video on dating problems where the lady says that a woman leaves her boyfriend if she doesn't get "growth" and " what is that" she asks obtusely( claiming to be conservative and presumably religious which is then against progressive spirituality I suppose, as if it were contradictory). Obviously in work and relationships if all emphasis is just on material success and stability then our souls will wither. Our soul in a practical everyday sense can be perceived as the flow of emotions, energy through our bodies. Have we thought of the deeper meaning, considered our motivations and not just what society presumes we ought to do? So people abuse drugs, food, alcohol, sexual behavior to relieve the contradiction of what we want against what we force ourselves to do. Religious or spiritual concepts for human emotional life are sort of like physics or financial or governing, social theories for those respective fields. So an Awakening is just a mess like a mental breakdown. Our energy body readjusts itself to change.
