This is a phenomenon I attribute to a certain astrological phase. Saturn and Jupiter conjunct every 20 years causing huge political and military conflict. Downstream of that the built up emotional tensions cause things like brit pop invasion in the 60s or MTV with Michael, Madonna, Aussie and British new wave in the early 80s. It is like 1959 was boring old trendy guy from the 40s to 50s on their last legs and in the late 70s Pink Floyd being comfortably numb. 2019 likely a similar phenomenon and then the pandemic was over, war was not scary but everyday life and so 100 flowers suddenly blossom, Midnights comes with a billion dollar global tour. KPop goes mainstream. Full power slows down by decade's end till people get obsessed with themselves or the perfect technique like say Steely Dan perfectionism, releasing a song after hearing it a thousand times and tweeking it. The beatles died out with " let it be" and lawyers arguments over money. Each two decades has its own focus 80s to 90s was globalism, last 20 years was internet, china trade. Now obviously it seems superpower competition, deglobalization, AI, robotics might be the watchwords. I forgot to mention the late 90s music with rap and early 00s explosion of excitement and US remilitarization.
