I am near 60. My mom wore slacks but never jeans except old baggy ones around the house when she was quite old and earlier I recall her wearing skirts. Nowadays as women dress like men things have changed. Equal rights meant dresses were out and pants or jeans were standard for all. In ca. 1970 women tried jeans but they were all for men and not form fitting. That soon changed. I thought of this topic concerning swimwear, etc. that she covers here in this video and it's relation to the gradual clothing change. In a dress the exact form of the buttocks of a woman is not shown but jeans are little different than tights. So then since one becomes entirely used to seeing the exact female form constantly by every woman in everyday life, instead of it being hidden under a dress, then why should the buttocks be covered at all? Slowly the two piece bikini, covering fully, partially and then not at all the butt cheeks, has replaced the single piece swimsuit. I recall some joke made in the 80s on TV or in print at the cost of Muammar Qaddafi, supposedly backward Arab then, compared to us Westerners. It was concerning a dance music disco pop charts show and the comment was that it would give him a boner as the girls were so scantily clad. Slowly then as well starting in the 50s as private films among men in private viewing(stag films), later in Playboy magazine, then as videos, porn made its way into the public arena. Cable TV allowed more nudity than publicly received broadcasts. Internet was boosted by geeks who sent nude photos of women. Online porn has a huge market. Only fans relatively recently made a sort of independent female nudity, as on some other platforms, where girls strip and more for online tips. YouTube, being hugely influential and like broadcast TV of the 50s-70s has given way to this trend by allowing scantily clad or body painted females to 'model transparent clothing' but with a warning about content beforehand. Many girls use this to get subscribers to their private subscription accounts on Only Fans and elsewhere. Essentially one becomes inured to nudity, sexual content. I have been wondering where this will end up. Perhaps it will turn around or it is due to technology. Like cars that have sleek designs due to computers, clothing is form fitting due to polyester, nylon, etc. The problem with the 'male gaze' will never go away. When we were clothes in the African Savanna before they were invented or as Eskimos all bundled up. Sexual activity and clothed, revealing or not, have a historical connection. The stock market went up with skirt lengths, meaning economic boom and sexual activity were correlated. We are not in a boom but no one starves since generations and therefore religion and chastity seem less important. We can control pregnancy. Women can support themselves. One speaks of one's ' body count' nowadays. This term I learned recently through YouTube videos. Imagine how demeaning, being just a statistic, one of scores of previous sex partners. In earlier times one fell in love after getting to know one another over quite a while. Sex before marriage was often taboo. Slut or rake were derogatory terms for disreputable people of either sex. Player seems to have replaced those as a sex neutral term. Internet dating, it seems, has failed. Romantic and real life dating is making a general comeback. I think that in general the leftwing swing of the pendulum sexually, politically is moving backwards to the right.
