EU has invested greatly in countries like Spain, Poland, Ireland to modernize them so that a modern continental market exists. The original model for this would have been US interstate railway and dams investments to develop poor regions like Mississippi or similar investments in the Soviet Union. The Japanese, who mafde this video, have invested heavily in Indian high speed rail, to gain influence. This is left unmentioned however.
