Americans Don't Remember Much

https://sputnikglobe.com/20240209/tucker-putin-interview-to-erode-funding-crusade-for-us-proxy-conflict-in-ukraine--ex-cia-agent-1116684226.html

I lived near a military base and a daughter of some officer was in my high school class. My father was a WW2 vet and I mentioned "the war" (early 80s) and she asked Vietnam? or which war? So WWII was just another conflict for Americans. Since my British mother also experienced the whole war and depression and till mid 50s in Britain it was clearly formative for her. Life in general changes so fast in America that memories disappear as culture, immigration, technology is so changing. Continuity is lacking.
