I hear the same stuff in German, UK. It seems to be zeitgeist. Barbarian hordes of end days of empire? Even Russia has a massive problem with this from central Asia. Our industrial culture created a goods surplus, high living standard against countries with 19th century style living standard. We got used to this, physically lazy, obese even, privileged, weak. They had to walk everywhere, plant food, see children die young. They hear paradise is close, no hunger and head north. Logical. Eventually we will all be at same level of poverty or middling wealth. Rome declined but primitive Europe gradually created a new culture at a higher level over a broad area, not like previous very primitive culture. In a thousand years how will the world be?
