Contradictory Developments of the American Left

Every logical development of a movement goes full circle, reaches an end of usefulness. Life is practical but ideology is, like religion, prone to hypocrisy. Pendulum swings back and forth between left and right in long term and in shorter election cycles. What is considered general progress might remain while other things get discarded after a while as superficial. This was always so. Puritans were successful but oppressive. Hippie communes were enjoyable but not long term survivable. Average morality and opinion matters and shifting effects of culture, technology, morals on society. Technology and globalization have also allowed wealth disparity to allow a few rich to control opinions and government by lobbying and press/ media control while the middle class disintegrates. These people then determine correct thought based on matters of large irrelevance to the masses ( racism, sexism are not a big deal anymore) but ignore real social disparities caused by their own rapaciousness. Nike slave labor using cheap polluting coal in asia instead of a social living wage with eco friendly means at home to support a strong and vibrant middle class is an example of hypocrisy. Money dictates everything. Cui Bono. Follow the money. If a product or ad campaign preaches ecological, economic, racial or sexual justice it is mostly built on doing exactly the opposite and trying to look good by token efforts, regardless of the area. Politics is just the tip of this iceberg as the elite hobbyist come there to play. So why are people so hypocritical with such massive blind spots? Politburo members had furs, villas and luxury cars. TV preachers do the same. Maybe psychopaths or sociopaths always reach the top, only think of themselves and then set the tone for decadent culture where everyone gets cynical then hates and rebels against such leaders. New ideas take hold in a new system which is ok for a while(1945-80) until the sickos come back into their own.
